LIV Golf Deep Dive

Everything about LIV Golf — the Saudi money, the sportswashing debate, and how the league works from top to bottom.

What Makes LIV Different

Different from the PGA Tour

  • 54 holes over 3 days, not 72 holes over 4
  • Shotgun start — all groups tee off simultaneously
  • No cut — every player competes all three days
  • Team competition runs alongside individual scoring
  • Smaller field — 48 players per event
  • Guaranteed money — appearance fees separate from prize money

The Season Structure

LIV Golf runs roughly 14 events across the calendar year at premium golf courses around the world. Individual and team standings accumulate across all events. At the end of the season, the top individual performer and top team each win championships.

Each event pays the same prize structure: $25 million total, with $4 million to the individual winner and additional team prize money. The season-ending team championship is the LIV Golf League's marquee event.
