Day 3 is complete. One hundred fifty-seven picks across four rounds Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh — quarterbacks finally found homes, Pittsburgh added another linebacker, and Denver's Red Murdock became Mr. Irrelevant as the final pick of the 2026 NFL Draft.
The moments that defined Day 3 in Pittsburgh.
Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy had been projected by many analysts as a Day 2 pick, but he slid all the way to the first selection of Saturday — pick 101 — where the Las Vegas Raiders snapped him up. For the Raiders, it was a second-round caliber corner at a fourth-round slot. McCoy now joins a Las Vegas secondary that's being rebuilt around franchise quarterback Fernando Mendoza's future.
New York traded with the Cincinnati Bengals to jump to No. 110 and select Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik. After three rounds of addressing pass rush, receiver, and cornerback, the Jets finally answered at quarterback on Day 3. Klubnik gives New York a developmental option and potential franchise starter — a high-upside pick for a team that entered the weekend with QB listed as a need.
After just two QBs in Round 1 and two more in Round 3, Day 3 brought a flood of passers off the board. Five quarterbacks were selected Saturday: Cade Klubnik (110, Jets), Taylen Green (182, Browns), Athan Kaliakmanis (223, Commanders), Behren Morton (234, Patriots), and Garrett Nussmeier (249, Chiefs). New England finally addressed their most pressing need; Kansas City added LSU's Nussmeier as a developmental piece behind Patrick Mahomes.
One of the day's most shocking slides: LSU linebacker Harold Perkins Jr., considered by many a legitimate second-round talent based on his athleticism and production, was still available at pick 215 in the sixth round. The Atlanta Falcons scooped him up. If Perkins develops, Atlanta may have found the steal of the entire draft — a player with first-day talent landing in the final round of the day.
New England entered Saturday still without a quarterback after three rounds. They left with one — and then some. The Patriots added Behren Morton (QB, Texas Tech, No. 234), Jam Miller (RB, Alabama, No. 245), and Quintayvious Hutchins (EDGE, Boston College, No. 247), plus Karon Prunty (CB) and Namdi Obiazor (LB) earlier in the day. Five Day 3 picks in total, addressing multiple roster holes. Whether Morton can be the answer at QB remains to be seen.
The final pick of the 2026 NFL Draft — No. 257 overall — went to linebacker Red Murdock from the University at Buffalo, selected by the Denver Broncos. Murdock becomes "Mr. Irrelevant," the traditional nickname given to the last player drafted each year. The tradition dates to 1976 and is celebrated with a week-long event in Newport Beach, California. Murdock now has the ultimate underdog story: the last man chosen, trying to earn a roster spot.
