About RS1
RS1 is a Porsche customer racing team with a proven record in IMSA's GT classes. The team brings deep Porsche expertise to the GTD class, leveraging years of experience with the 911 platform in various forms. Their focused, professional approach to customer racing has built a reputation for well-prepared cars and consistent results.
Running in the GTD class, RS1 targets both outright class victories and strong championship points finishes. Endurance racing rewards consistency and reliability as much as outright speed, and RS1's institutional knowledge of managing a Porsche over a 12-hour event is a genuine competitive weapon.
The Car: Porsche 911 GT3 R (992)
The 911 GT3 R is Porsche's purpose-built GT3 racer, derived from the current 992-generation Porsche 911. This is a dedicated racing machine — not a road car with modifications, but a car built from the ground up for competition, sharing the 911's fundamental layout (rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive) but with full race specification throughout.
The car features Porsche's naturally aspirated flat-six engine, a large rear wing for aerodynamic downforce, Michelin racing slick tires, and an FIA-mandated safety cell. Porsche sells the 911 GT3 R to customer teams worldwide, making it one of the most widely raced GT3 cars globally — which means an enormous development community and accumulated setup knowledge.
Experience at Sebring
Sebring International Raceway is one of the most distinctive and demanding circuits in American motorsport. The track is built on an old World War II airfield, which means sections of extremely rough, bumped tarmac that test car reliability as much as driver skill. Teams and drivers with Sebring experience — knowing which bumps to avoid, which kerbs to take, how to manage the car's setup to cope with the surface — have a genuine advantage. Jan Heylen's years of IMSA racing, including multiple Sebring starts, provide exactly this kind of track-specific expertise.
Jan Heylen (Belgium) is a Belgian Porsche racing driver who has competed in IMSA for many years, becoming one of the series' most experienced GT veterans. His racecraft, developed over hundreds of professional racing miles, makes him a reliable anchor for the RS1 lineup. Sebring has been a regular fixture on his racing calendar, giving him specific track knowledge that younger drivers must develop over time.
Dillon Machavern (USA) is an American professional GT driver who has established himself in IMSA's top GT classes. His pace and consistency have made him a trusted professional in the GTD environment, delivering strong stint performances and contributing technical feedback to car setup.
Spencer Pumpelly (USA) is an American GT specialist with a long career in IMSA racing. Pumpelly is one of those drivers who has been a fixture in the American GT paddock for years, accumulating the kind of experience and racecraft that comes only from racing hundreds of hours in competition. His smooth driving style helps manage tire and brake wear across long stints.
What is GTD?
GTD allows a mix of professional and gentleman drivers. At least one driver must be a Silver-rated or lower amateur. This creates a unique class dynamic where passionate enthusiasts race alongside career professionals. Learn more →
